Champions League Betting Tips for Tonight – Atalanta vs Valencia & Tottenham vs RB Leipzig

Following the two matches last night, there is another two Champions League last 16 games taking place tonight including Tottenham hosting German side RB Leipzig. The other game sees Serie A side Atalanta host La Liga’s Valencia.

Atalanta vs Valencia Betting Tips

Both of these sides have done really well to get to the last 16 of the competition, and now they’ll fancy their chances of getting into the quarter-final. They have both avoided the strongest teams left in the Champions League but it is Atalanta who have home advantage tonight, and who are in better form ahead of this game.

The Italian side have won three and drawn one of their last four competitive matches, including a 7-0 hammering of Torino and the weekend 2-1 win against Roma. They have the impressive Alejandro Gomez in their midfield and Josip Ilicic, who has scored 15 goals this season.

Atalanta got through from the group stages with just seven points on the board, after failing to get anything from their first three matches. That will certainly be a concern and they’ll have to improve on that to get past the more experienced Valencia side.

Valencia come into this match off the back of a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid at the weekend, but before that they lost at Getafe and were knocked out of the Copa Del Rey by Granada. They were surprise qualifiers from a group containing Chelsea and Ajax though, so shouldn’t be under estimated in this tie. What’s more, they won away at Chelsea and Ajax in the group stages, keeping a clean sheet in both matches.

This could be a cagey first leg and it’s exactly what Valencia would want. Their away matches in the group stages finished 1-0, 1-1 and 1-0 so they would be happy with a low scoring match and potentially get an away goal. Atalanta don’t tend to defend very well so for my betting tip on this match, I’m going for both teams to score and as a correct score prediction, 1-1 looks a decent shout.

Tottenham vs RB Leipzig Betting Tips

The second match tonight sees injury-hit Tottenham host German side RB Leipzig at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Leipzig sit second in the Bundesliga table behind Bayern Munich by just a point, but they had a bad run of three matches without a win before getting back to winning ways at the weekend. That run of two draws and a defeat could have cost them the title, although one of the draws was at Bayern.

Tottenham have had a mixed season but with Jose Mourinho now getting a tune out of the side, they are unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions. They needed an injury-time winner to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the weekend but it came at a cost, as Son joins Harry Kane on the injury list. That means Lucas Moura is likely to be tasked with leading the line tonight.

Spurs had an entertaining group stage which included conceded 10 against Bayern Munich and scoring nine against Red Star Belgrade. After that 7-2 loss to Bayern they won their following two home games against Red Star and Olympiakos to be sure of qualifying. Defending has been a problem for them and with Timo Werner already on 25 goals for the season, you have to expect Leipzig to at least get an away goal tonight.

The German side lost just once in the group stages – a shock home loss to Lyon. They won two and drawn one of their three away games, scoring two goals in each match. I’m expecting more goals tonight and going for a high scoring 2-2 draw as my correct score prediction. Over 2.5 goals is 4/5 with Betfair which could also be an option for an accumulator bet today.
