Nottingham Forest vs Cardiff – Nottingham Forest Win

Forest racked up a convincing 4-0 victory in midweek against QPR and Sabri Lamouchi’s side continue to impress in the second tier. That success was enough to move them up to fourth in the table and they’ll be hoping to make it four wins from five on Saturday afternoon. The Tricky Trees are incredibly tough to beat and have lost just three times this season. As well as many hard-working stalwarts such as Ben Watson, they also have enough flair to hurt the opposition and fans will have been delighted to see the inconsistent Joao Carvalho get amongst the goals in West London on Wednesday night. Cardiff have struggled on the road this season and that is something that Neil Harris needs to address. The former Millwall manager did pick up a useful point at the Valley in his first game in charge and he’ll be aiming to build upon his team’s narrow success against Stoke on Tuesday. However, they are far too open on the road and they have kept just one clean sheet outside of South Wales this season and that is troublesome.

 

Stoke vs Blackburn – Both Teams to Score? Yes

Michael O’Neill’s dream start as Stoke manager came to a crashing halt on Tuesday night as the Potters suffered a narrow defeat to Cardiff. The visitors actually had more possession and created the better chances, but they were unable to find a way through and the Northern Ireland boss will be hoping that his side can be more clinical this time around. Blackburn surprisingly kept a clean sheet against Brentford in midweek, although they rode their luck at times. The Bees carved out several opportunities, yet couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. Tony Mowbray’s side are unlikely to make it back-to-back shutouts and they are leakier on the road. They’ve conceded ten times in their last four away games and that will be music to the ears of the long-suffering home fans. BTTS had landed in five of the last six games for Rovers away from home and Stoke are still showing some defensive frailties.

 

Barnsley vs Hull – Over 2.5 Goals

Gerhard Struber suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Riverside Stadium in midweek although he will be pleased to see that his side created the better of the chances in the first half. There’s plenty of work to do, although the Tykes do tend to find the net at Oakwell. They lost 2-4 to Stoke in their last match here and they’ve netted twice in three of their last four matches in South Yorkshire. Cauley Woodrow has been singled out by his manager and he has a great scoring record for his club. Hull knocked four past Preston in midweek and will arrive here full of confidence. The Tigers are scoring for fun and Jarrod Bowen now has four in 180 minutes of football. They aren’t afraid to play on the front foot and they should be able to find a way past a flaky Barnsley defence.
