Bristol City vs Wolves Predictions and Betting Tips: FA Cup Preview
Bristol City vs Wolves predictions and betting tips for this Sunday lunchtime FA Cup fixture on February 17th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.
The fifth round of the competition throws up an intriguing tie at Ashton Gate with in-form Championship outfit Bristol City hosting Premier League newbies Wolves. It looks to be a close contest between Lee Johnson’s play-off contenders and a Wolves side who are comfortably top-half in the top flight. There should be a decent noise ringing around the stadium and home advantage could be key in this cup tie. See our Bristol City vs Wolves predictions below.

Bristol City vs Wolves Predictions
Bristol City have been one of the surprise packages of the season in the Championship. Lee Johnson has always been a streaky manager, but his side are on a hugely impressive run of form at the moment. Coming into this game, they’ve won seven matches in a row and haven’t been defeated since November 24th. It’s an eye-catching sequence which has seen them sneak into the play-off spots. There was an element of fortune about Tuesday night’s victory against QPR, although the soft penalty they were awarded could legitimately have counteracted the perfectly good goal they had ruled out earlier in the second half. They haven’t been beaten here at Ashton Gate since November 10th and they will be full of confidence coming into this FA Cup tie. Wolves have already eliminated Liverpool from the competition, but they required extra time to edge past League One Shrewsbury. They play some lovely football, although they haven’t quite been firing on all cylinders lately and they could find Bristol City’s tempo hard to manage. It should be an open and entertaining 90 minutes, but it could be worth keeping the in-form hosts on side here. Bristol City or Draw Double Chance is the first of our FA Cup betting tips for this weekend.

Bristol City vs Wolves Goals Betting Tips
It’s a given that both sides will make changes for this fixture and that could result in a very open game. Wolves conceded four times to Shrewsbury across two legs in the previous round of the competition and they’ve only kept one clean sheet in nine Premier League games. They’ve not managed a clean sheet on the road since October 6th and the games between these sides in the Championship last season were suitably entertaining affairs. Bristol City have one of the best defences in the second tier, but they have conceded to Bolton and QPR recently and I’d expect Wolves to get on the score-sheet at the very least. Both Teams to Score? Yes is Evens with some bookmakers and that’s the second of our Bristol City vs Wolves predictions for Sunday lunchtime.
Bristol City vs Wolves Anytime Goalscorer Predictions
With both sides expected to shuffle their pack, this isn’t always the easiest market, but Scandinavian winger Niclas Eliasson has surely played himself into contention. He started the fight-back against the Hoops on Tuesday night and is handy from a set piece situation. The 23-year has grown in stature as the season has progressed and he comes into this game having netted twice in his last three appearances. He could be the man to produce something special here. Niclas Eliasson to score anytime is the third of our Bristol City vs Wolves betting tips for this weekend.
Bristol City vs Wolves Match Betting Preview
As the higher-ranked side, I’m not surprised to see Wolves start as favourites for this tie, but I’m not sure they should be odds-on away at Ashton Gate. They can be backed at around 5/6 to progress to the next round at the first time of asking. The Robins are available at 17/5 whilst the draw can be supported at 5/2.
The early prices point to a low-scoring game with Over 2.5 Goals generously priced at 11/10 whilst Under 2.5 is currently available at 7/10.
Raul Jimenez missed a big chance on Monday night and the Mexican will be desperate to bounce back. He is 5/1 to break the deadlock in this encounter and is closely followed by team-mate Diogo Jota at 11/2. Famara Diedhiou was calmness personified from the spot on Tuesday night and he is 8/1 to net the first in this tie. Jamie Paterson is always dangerous and is available at 10/1 to score the opener.
