Brendan Rodgers was derided by Celtic fans after leaving his boyhood club for the purportedly less ‘fashionable’ Leicester City.
But everything seems to have gone to plan so far, save for a defeat away at Watford during his first match.
Newcastle, meanwhile, appear to have contented themselves with the idea of Premier League survival.
Leicester City vs Newcastle United Preview
If we were only halfway through the season then there would no doubt be some Leicester fans of the opinion that a top six place could be within their grasp. As it is, though, a significant gap between Leicester and nearest rivals Manchester United means that a European spot is beyond their grasp – save for FA Cup permutations.
The Foxes look rejuvenated following the appointment of ex-Liverpool manager Rodgers, and he’s already had a significant impact in restructuring the club’s outlook and playing style. Rodgers came south with a view to developing players but has already made a tangible difference to the current playing squad.
Newcastle, on the other hand, look like a side already on their summer holidays with just one win from their last five outings. The Magpies have very little to play for as things stand, in stark contrast to the Leicester players keen to prove themselves to a new manager. A home win looks like an absolute banker on Friday night.

Leicester City vs Newcastle United Betting Tips
Prior to Claude Puel’s dismissal, there were widespread rumours about the Frenchman’s fragmented relationship with star striker Jamie Vardy. Puel’s departure will likely have come as a bit of a relief to Vardy, who has continued finding the net with the kind of regularity we’ve been used to in recent seasons.
The ex-Fleetwood Town striker bagged a brace in Leicester’s most recent match – a 4-1 drubbing off Huddersfield – making it fifteen in the Premier League this season. The 32-year-old will have his sights set on breaching the 20-goal barrier, as indeed he did last term, so a goal against Newcastle would certainly help towards achieving that target.

Leicester City vs Newcastle United Score Prediction – 2-0 @ 8/1
If I was sticking money on Newcastle to get three points henceforth then I wouldn’t be doing so with much confidence, let me tell you. Rafa Benitez’s men bear all the hallmarks of a side playing with minimal ambition despite the fact they’re far from mathematically safe. Should Cardiff win their game in hand, the Bluebirds will be just four points away from Newcastle in the table with five matches still to play.
I can’t see Leicester’s good form coming to a halt any time soon – certainly not this weekend – and that would spell bad news for the visitors. Instead, a 2-0 home win looks a value punt to me based on current form and the fact that the visitors have scored just twelve times on the road so far.
