Rafa Benitez has once again worked wonders with a Newcastle United side who haven’t really been invested in, and they are safe in the Premier League for another season barring a crazy set of results between now and the end of the season.

They have really found their form at St James’ Park in recent weeks, the highlight being the 3-2 win over Everton after coming back from 2-0 down. Prior to that, they had won their previous four matches at home as well, conceding just one goal in the process. Their away form is a stark contrast to this but they have certainly been picking up the required points at home.

Crystal Palace were on a good run of form away from home before losing in the FA Cup to Watford and then going down 2-0 to Tottenham at their new stadium. They did beat Huddersfield inbetween those matches but have also lost 2-1 at home to Brighton recently, so Roy Hodgson and the Palace fans will be slightly concerned going into the last few games of the season.

Wilfried Zaha would be the obvious choice from the Crystal Palace players here but we’re expecting Newcastle to win this match and so it makes sense to get on one of their players. None of their players are what you would call prolific but Ayoze Perez scored twice in the win against Everton to take his tally to six goals this season.

The selection for our anytime goalscorer tip though is going to be the in-form Salomon Rondon. He’s got nine goals in the league this season but perhaps more importantly, he’s scored three times in his last four appearances for club and country.

The last of our Premier League predictions for this weekend’s clash is a correct score, and we’re going for a 2-1 Newcastle win. As mentioned above, they are in great form on home soil and can keep that run going against a Palace side who seemed to roll over after going 1-0 down against Spurs in midweek.

Newcastle have scored exactly two goals in three of their last four home matches and also drew 2-2 away to Bournemouth not so long ago.

Palace did have a good run of away form before losing to Spurs and losing 2-1 in the FA Cup quarter final away at Watford, but those two defeats could mean a third for them this weekend.
