Are Crystal Palace about to sign TWO strikers?

With the Premier League season now just a month away, teams are starting to become more active in the transfer window and Crystal Palace are in the market for strikers after struggling for goals in large parts of last season.

After spending the 2018/29 season on loan at Palace, Jordan Ayew is set to complete a permenant transfer to Selhurst Park for around £2.5m from Swansea City.

Currently on duty for Ghana in the African Nations Cup, the striker looks set to complete his move as soon as that competition is completed in 10 days time.

 

Crystal Palace set to sign Jordan Ayew permenantly

Jordan Ayew is set to join Crystal Palace from Swansea for about £2.5m (includes some add-ons) as soon as the Africa Cup of Nations is over. The deal isn’t signed off but it’s pretty much done. Ayew has a year left on his contract & Swansea need him (& others) off the wage bill.

Despite only scoring one goal for Palace during his loan spell, the small fee of £2.5m could represent good business for all parties. Swansea want him off the wage bill and Crystal Palace will use him as a back-up striker to other new signings this summer.

They have also been linked with another former loanee rejoining Palace in a permanent deal.

 

Michy Batshuayi to Crystal Palace?

Another strker Palace took on loan last season was Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian international flopped at Valencia in the first half of the season and the Spanish club sent him back to Chelsea, allowing Crystal Palace to take him for the second half of the season.

He did well for the Eagles, scoring six goals in 13 appearances, and manager Roy Hodgson is keen to get him back to Selhurt Park, however new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that all the squad will get a chance to impress him and with Chelsea’s transfer ban in enforcement, they would be reluctant to let fringe players such as Batshuayi and Danny Drinkwater leave the club incase of injuries.

Chelsea have already lost Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata has also moved on, so they are light up front with only Olivier Giroud there who would be classed as a senior striker.
