Manchester United are on their longest unbeaten run of the season.

Aston Villa are 18^th at the time of writing, four points from safety after Watford beat Norwich last night. Manchester United have moved up to 5th but are now four points behind Leicester in fourth, and five behind Chelsea in 3rd.

These sides couldn’t have more contrasting form. Villa held firm for over an hour against Liverpool but will have a tough time doing so against a highly-motivated and free-scoring United side.

It’s been a disappointing restart  for Aston Villa. The Midlands side have picked up two points against Sheffield United and Newcastle but have also extended their winless run to nine in the process.

Villa remain in the relegation zone with arguably the toughest fixtures from any of their relegation rivals yet to come. Dean Smith’s side still have Arsenal and Everton to come after their home tie with Manchester United.

Aston Villa have drawn two and lost 14 against the current top nine sides. Their defence has failed to stand firm against any real test, managing just a single clean sheet against Sheffield United from the top ten.

Defenders Matt Targett and Bjorn Engels are both doubts.

Manchester United are unbeaten in nine with six clean sheets during that undefeated run. Solskjaer’s side have played five top-half sides in that period.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have each netted 14 league goals so far this season, despite missing numerous games between them. Mason Greenwood has grabbed the recent headlines, scoring a brace against Bournemouth to take in Premier League tally to eight. Elsewhere, Bruno Fernandes has been in excellent form, scoring six and assisting five in the league so far.

The Red Devils’ record against the bottom six sides has been varied. They have won six, drawn one and lost three of their prior meetings this season.

Victor Lindelof may be unavailable for the trip to Villa Park.
