How the odds for Liverpool to win the 2019/20 Premier League title have changed since August
Liverpool are well on their way to winning the Premier League title for the first time, and the odds for them to do so indicate that it is very unlikely that either Manchester City or Leicester will catch them – but how have their odds changed since the start of the Premier League season back in August?
At the start of this season, Manchester City were the favourites to win the Premier League title, but a near faultless display from Jurgen Klopp’s men so far has meant that his side are currently 13 points ahead of Leicester and 14 ahead of Manchester City having played a game less than both of those sides.
They are already 27 points clear of fifth placed Manchester United – the only side who have taken points off Klopp’s side this season when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford back in October.
What are the odds for Liverpool to win the Premier League title?
At the time of writing (08/01/20) Liverpool are BEST PRICE 1/20 with William Hill to lift the Premier League title.
Manchester City are second-favourites at 20/1 with Betfair and Leicester are 125/1 with the same firm, despite currently sitting in second place in the table.

What odds were Liverpool to win the Premier League at the start of the season?
Before a ball was kicked in the Premier League this season, Liverpool were top price 11/4 with Paddy Power to win the Premier League. They kicked off the season with a 4-1 win over Norwich City at Anfield before Manchester City went to West Ham and won 5-0.
This actually caused some bookmakers to push Liverpool’s odds a bit bigger, with Betfred going 7/2 for Liverpool to win the league after watching that Man City win. That is the biggest odds Liverpool have been all season in the Premier League title race.
When did Liverpool become favourites to win the Premier League title?
At the start of the season, Manchester City were the 2/5 favourites to win the Premier League title and they remained odds on until the 6th October. That was when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Wolves.
In that time, Liverpool’s odds had been getting shorter and shorter and that was the day when Jurgen Klopp’s side became favourites to win the Premier League. On the same weekend, Liverpool had beaten Leicester City 2-1 at Anfield thanks to a last-minute penalty awarded for a foul on Sadio Mane. James Milner scored from the spot and Liverpool went eight points clear at the top of the table.
Since that weekend, Liverpool have been at the head of the betting to win the title – even after their next fixture saw them drop two points away at Manchester United, the only time in their last 29 Premier League matches when they’ve failed to take all three points.
How Liverpool’s odds have changed through the season
There were a few big turning points in the first half of the season for Liverpool – but they were mainly down to Manchester City’s failures. Liverpool have only dropped two points in the whole season and that has given no room for City to have off days such as their defeats against Wolves, Norwich and Manchester United.
The gap is surely too big for City to close now and the title has to be heading to Anfield after a 30-year wait.
Can anybody stop Liverpool winning the Premier League?
For anybody other than Liverpool to win the title this season, Liverpool would need to lose at least five of their remaining Premier League fixtures. Even though they still have to travel to Manchester City in early April and have tough away matches at Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal still to come even dropped points in those matches would not be enough for Leicester or Manchester to close the gap.
Liverpool’s record at Anfield is faultless so games against Chelsea and Arsenal won’t worry them there.
When could Liverpool win the Premier League title?
There will be two dates in the diary when Liverpool fans would love nothing more than securing the Premier League title.
On March 14th, Liverpool travel to Goodison Park to play their city rivals Everton – if they keep on winning and Man City and Leicester continue to drop points, there is a small chance that Liverpool could seal the Premier League title at the home of their rivals. However, they would need to be 24 points clear to do that.
A more likely time when Liverpool could win the Premier League title comes two matches later, against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. There would be six matches remaining after this one, so if Liverpool were 16 points clear by this stage, then a win at the Etihad would see Liverpool win their first-ever Premier League title.
Fixtures after that are at home to Aston Villa and away to Brighton, where City lifted the Premier League title last season.
Liverpool’s last home match of the season is against Chelsea on May 9th, where they would be presented with the Premier League trophy.
