Rangers vs Kilmarnock Predictions and Betting Tips: Scottish FA Cup Preview

Rangers predictions

Rangers vs Kilmarnock predictions, betting tips and preview for Wednesday night’s Scottish FA Cup replay. A quarter-final against Aberdeen awaits the winner of this one but Rangers will be acutely aware of the fact that they’ve failed to beat Killie in each of their last three meetings.

Rangers vs Kilmarnock Predictions

Since beating bitter rivals Celtic before the turn of the year, Rangers have failed to show a consistent level of performance and fallen eight points behind in the Scottish Premiership title race as a direct consequence. And whilst Steven Gerrard will not publicly admit that title number 55 is beyond them, Rangers’ best chance of silverware this season is surely in the Scottish Cup. They entertain Kilmarnock in Glasgow in midweek following a drab 0-0 draw at Rugby Park earlier in the month. But Killie themselves are in pretty poor form and are without a win in their last five matches. They do generally keep things tight and are known for being difficult to break down, but I’m not sure that approach will serve them well at Ibrox. I fancy the Light Blues to win the tie inside 90 minutes and fewer than three goals to be scored during the match. That’s to say that I can see Rangers winning either 2-o or 1-0, which is a shade over 2/1.

Rangers vs Kilmarnock Anytime Goalscorer Prediction

Alfredo Morelos is arguably more talked about for his disciplinary issues than he is for his goal scoring exploits which is a real shame for the best player in Scotland right now. The Colombian forward missed Rangers’ trip to Rugby Park but will be available for the return fixture – much to the delight of Bears fans. Rangers have failed to score in each of the two games that Morelos has missed since being sent off at Aberdeen which goes some way to underlining his importance. In any case, the 22-year-old is comfortably the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer this season and is capable of turning a game in a second. You can get 6/5 on Morelos bagging at some stage on Wednesday night which is difficult to ignore given the frequency with which he has registered throughout the campaign.

Rangers vs Kilmarnock Betting Preview

The fact that James Tavernier is Rangers’ second top scorer – and by quite some distance – should tell you all you need to know about the number of penalties his side have been awarded this season. The English full-back has converted all but two so far, with one of these coming in the recent stalemate against Kilmarnock. Incredibly, Rangers were recently awarded four spot kicks in the same match against St. Mirren at the beginning of February which was quickly followed up by another free hit from twelve yards in their 4-2 win over Aberdeen. The sheer volume of penalties clearly indicates the amount of time Rangers spend in and around the opposition box and it’s no fluke that they’ve been given so many.

It’s therefore staggering that you can get 7/2 on them getting another pen awarded when Killie make the short trip to Glasgow – and it doesn’t even need to be converted in order for you to win your bet!
