This season’s relegation battle in the Premier League has been full of twists and controversy. The bulk of this controversy has surrounded Cardiff and manager Neil Warnock. After being understandably frustrated with officials in their loss to Chelsea a couple weeks back, Cardiff found themselves in the middle of things after a decision to award them a penalty against Burnley on Saturday was overturned, leaving Warnock furious with officials yet again. Without poor refereeing decisions, Cardiff could be a lot closer to that safety line. This is a must win game for the Bluebirds. Lose and they will be all but relegated.

Brighton suffered their heaviest defeat in the Premier League on Saturday against their south coast rivals Bournemouth. The 5-0 home defeat was made worse as winger Anthony Knockaert was sent off for a professional foul mid way through the second half. If Brighton are to win here, they will be eight points clear or Cardiff who currently occupy 18th place with a game in hand.

This is a must win game for both sides and we’re predicting Brighton to just about get the three points to secure their Premier League survival.

As this is a must win game for both sides, there will be a lot of nerves during play on the south coast. As I mentioned above, Anthony Knockaert will be suspended for this game, which is a huge blow for Brighton. The Seagulls have been poor as of recent, failing to score in their last four games in all competitions.

Cardiff have also been in poor form with finding goals as they have only scored once in their last three league games. With this being their biggest game of the season, they will be hoping to find some sort of form in front of goal.

There really isn’t too much to separate these two teams going into this massive fixture. As I stated earlier I feel this will be a close game with few goals. When two teams are so close in terms of quality, home advantage can be a huge factor. The reverse fixture back in November of last year ended up in a 2-1 victory to the welsh side with a 90th minute winner from Sol Bamba. Unfortunately the centre back is out for the season and will not be around to save the team from Wales this time.
