AZ qualified for this competition by finishing fourth, and they will be hoping to progress to the group stages of the Europa League. They have previous in this competition, although they were royally thumped by Lyon in the knock-out round. This will be much easier, and although they have yet to start their domestic season, they’ve performed reasonably well in recent friendlies. They beat PAOK and Club Brugge at this ground, and new boss Arnie Slot will be hoping to build upon those performances. AZ were one of a handful of sides who didnt change their manager in the Eredivisie last season, but have opted for a swap this summer. They have added Jordy Clasie from Southampton, and Yukinara Sugawara also arrives at the club. Outside of that, it’s business as usual for the Dutch side. Hacken are over half-way through their domestic campaign, and they currently sit fourth. Their form has been mixed, but they have picked up some decent results on the road recently. They’ve only lost twice on the road this season, and they should put up a decent fight here. Although their domestic holds up well, their recent results in the Europa League have not been quite as impressive. They’ve picked up just one win in this competition since 2013, and that came against Liepaja of Latvia. They will need to be at their best in order to stop this AZ attack. They spread their goals around with 11 different goalscorers finding the net this season, and they offer threats from all over the pitch. AZ will be looking towards the excellent Guus Till to lead them this season, and he will keen to guide his side towards the group stage.

This is a tricky fixture in which each of the two sides are at very different stages of their season. Hacken are chasing down a top-three finish, and they mustn’t become too distracted by their Europa League commitments. They scored plenty of goals last season, but they may be a bit slow out of the traps here. Hacken are solid, and have been effective in the Allsvenskan, but their overall form in the Europa League is a little worrying. Their away form is good, and only three sides have better records on the road domestically. They will put up plenty of resistance, but they may just fall short. AZ Win is odds-on, but if you chuck in Under 3.5 Goals, it’s far more palatable.

AZ are unlikely to run away with this one, and the 11/4 on offer for the Dutch outfit to win by a single goal could be another decent option. Hacken will be keen to take them back to Sweden with plenty still to play for, and they could opt to keep it tight here.
