FA Cup Tips – Five Saturday Afternoon Betting Tips in the 1st Round

FA Cup betting tips

This season’s FA Cup first round gets underway this weekend and we’ve picked out five FA Cup betting tips for Saturday’s matches which all get underway at 3pm.

The FA confirmed that all this weekend’s FA Cup ties could go ahead despite the government restrictions to non-elite football and so the 10 non-elite teams still in the competition are cleared to play.

The BBC are showing 13 of the 40 FA Cup first round matches live this weekend including FC United of Manchester v Doncaster on BBC Two on Saturday at 5.30pm.

FA Cup Tips for this Weekend

The League One clubs will be looking to avoid a shock this weekend when they play some lower league opposition. Saturday’s first game sees Bradford City travel to Tonbridge Angels, who play their football in the National League South. In the betting odds, the non-league side are 11/2 to win.

South Shields from the Northern Premier League are hosting League Two Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon and FC United of Manchester are the 13/1 outsiders in the TV game against Doncaster.

Charlton v Plymouth Argyle

Charlton to score over 1.5 goals – 5/4 with Bet365.

Charlton’s league form has been tremendous, they have won 6 straight league games and will be going into this cup tie full of confidence of progressing to the next round. Plymouth themselves are coming into this tie off back to back wins, with both sides in good form this tie should present a few goals. Charlton are averaging 2 goals per game in their last 5 outings and expect them to be amongst the goals again against League Two side Plymouth.

Hull City v Fleetwood

BTTS and over 2.5 goals – 6/5 with Bet365.

Two League One sides clash here in the FA Cup, Hull City will be out for revenge after being defeated by Joey Barton’s side 4-1 last month in the League. Hull City have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches, whilst Fleetwood come into this game off a 3-2 defeat to Charlton. With what’s at stake expect both sides to go for it and leave nothing for chance.

Boreham Wood v Southend

Borehamwood to Win – Evens with Bet365.

Although making an average start to their season National League side Boreham Wood will be feeling good about their chances of progressing to the next round against League Two strugglers Southend. Southend seem to be in free fall, they have only won once in their last 20 matches in all competitions which is an atrocious return for the football league side. Boreham Wood are a solid National League outfit and expect them to take scalp League Two side Southend on Saturday.

Salford v Hartlepool

Salford to Win and BTTS – 12/5 with Bet365.

Salford announced Swindon boss Richie Wellens as new manager of the club and his first game in charge will be against Hartlepool at home in the first round of the FA Cup. The FA Cup presents a great financial reward for the lower league clubs and the Manchester United Class of 92 will make it known they need an FA Cup run this season. Hartlepool have won both their away games in the National League so far scoring 6 goals in the process, they should put up a good fight but expect Salford to be too strong for the National League side.

Ipswich v Portsmouth

Under 2.5 goals – 9/10 with Bet365.

Two top-end League One sides clash at Portman Road on Saturday aiming to progress to the next round of the FA Cup and don’t expect this one to be a thriller. Both Ipswich and Portsmouth have boded solid defensive records so far this season, Portsmouth have conceded 10 goals in 11 league games whilst Ipswich have conceded 9 goals in 11 games.
